War of 1812 Officers Day

May 17, 2025

11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Fort George is filled with pomp and circumstance as War of 1812 Re-enactors show what life was like in Upper Canada for the “upper class”. Beautiful uniforms and décor will adorn the Officers’ Quarters with demonstrations happening throughout the day.

Artillery Day

May 25, 2025

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join us to celebrate The Canadian Royal Regiment of Artillery’s 309th Birthday and Fort George will be celebrating with a BANG! Cannons and mortars will roar to life with firing demonstrations along with specialized programing that will highlight the “Heavy Metal” from days gone by. Artillery firing demonstrations will be happening at 11:15am, 1:15pm and 3:15pm.

Fort George in the Great War

June 21-22, 2025

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

To commemorate the First World War, Parks Canada and re-enactors from all across North America will bring Fort George National Historic Site back to its Camp Niagara roots with displays and demonstrations honouring those who fought in the war to end all wars.!! Demonstrations happening throughout day!

Celebrate Canada Day

July 1, 2025

10:00 am - 10:00 pm

Join the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada as we celebrate Canada Day on July 1st!

The day starts with a barbecue lunch prepared and served by the Rotary Club of Niagara-on-the-Lake from 11:30 am – 3:00 pm in Simcoe Park. There will also be live music and children’s activities in the park.

At 3:00 pm, the annual Cake Parade will be led by the 41st Regiment Fife and Drum Corps and will head down Queen Street into Simcoe Park, where the cake will be distributed to the public, free of charge. Willow Cakes and Pastries has generously donated the Canada Day cake again for 2025, with the design a secret until the day of the event!

Fort George National Historic Site is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on July 1st, and it’s free all day! Throughout the day, visitors to Fort George can tour the buildings, visit with costumed interpreters, enjoy a musket demonstration and more! Please note, buildings close at 5:00 pm.

There will be cold drinks and treats available from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm inside Fort George. Food services will start at 4:00 pm. Evening entertainment starts at 6:30 pm with the kiddie militia and drill, followed by a presentation by the Fort George Infantry, and Fife and Drum Corps.

On stage will be “The Howling Horns.” An 8-piece horn band featuring music from blues to dance to classic rock. At 10:00 pm, a spectacular fireworks display will once again close the evening, by the award-winning fireworks company, Garden City Fireworks.

Battle of Fort George, War of 1812 Re-enactment

July 12-13, 2025

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join us as we commemorate 212th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort George. Re-enactors from all over North America will descend upon Fort George as they re-enact one of the pivotal events in Niagara during the War of 1812. Battle re-enactments will be happening at 11:00am and 3:00pm on Saturday and 1:00pm on Sunday. 1812 programming including musket firings, cannon firings, music presentations and more will be happening throughout both days inside the imposing walls of Fort George. Jane Austen Tea Party

August 7, 2025

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us August 7th as we celebrate 250 years of Jane! Jane Austen was an English author from the early 19th century, whose work is contemporary to the time period portrayed at Fort George, and provides a glimpse into the middle & upper class lifestyles of the regency period which is something many officers left behind when they came to Upper Canada.

This regency evening will include book trivia, book discussion, shopping, period games, tea & treats down at picturesque Navy Hall! Participants can try writing with a quill pen in the style of Jane Austen, as well as other fun regency-era activities! Participants who come dressed in period costume will receive a 10% discount in our gift shop!

Fife & Drum Muster & Soldiers' Field Day

August 16-17, 2025

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join us for the 26th anniversary of our annual Fife & Drum Muster and Soldiers' Field Day! Fife and drum corps and infantry units converge on Fort George National Historic Site, showcasing the military music and drills of the early 19th century. This weekend-long event has become an annual tradition at Fort George, and is packed with firing demonstrations, music, and entertainment.

Brock's Birthday Bash at Brock's Monument

Join us at Brock's Monument on October 6, as we celebrate the life of the hero of Upper Canada, Major General Sir Isaac Brock. This event will include special presentations highlighting the life of Brock, and birthday treats, which are being generously donated by one of our members.

Battle of Queenston Heights Commemoration at Brock's Monument

To commemorate the 213th anniversary of the Battle of Queenston Heights and the death of Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, we will be offering a commemorative tour of the battlefield at 10:00 am, followed by a tour of the Landscape of Nations.

Beefsteak Society Dinner

November 6, 2025

7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Join the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada for a special fundraiser dinner, which will be fashioned after the popular Sublime Beefsteak Society of England. The dinner will take place at Navy Hall National Historic Site on November 6, 2025 and will include a steak dinner, live music, an auction and great entertainment.

Started in the 1700's, the Beefsteak Society came to symbolize patriotic and liberal concepts of prosperity. Throughout the 19th century, the club included royalty such as George IV, statesmen, military leaders, actors, artists such as William Hogarth, musicians and writers.

We hope you will join us for a special evening of food and merriment! We have D&T Classic Catering providing the dinner, and period musical entertainment for the evening being provided by Tom Keefer and Celtic Cross. There will also be a silent auction running throughout the evening, with lots of items that are perfect for Christmas gifts!
